Message They aren't meant to be "heavy duty" like that of a truck radiator, etc.

There are many MANY factors that could affect what happened with your radiator (driving style, how often coolant is changed (expansion issues), climate, roads (bumps), and so on...

If it wasn't installed properly, this would cause the hood to push on the radiator cap and, therefore, cause excess pressure on the filler neck.
